MAKARA YAZH in Tamil Nadu

A replica of an old musical instrument. A hollow fish shaped wooden body with fourteen wooden pegs at the tail in which steel strings are tied. The strings were probably strummed by fingers for providing melodic support to the vocalists.

Recognizing the ongoing need to position itself for the digital future, Indian Culture is an initiative by the Ministry of Culture. A platform that hosts data of cultural relevance from various repositories and institutions all over India.
