The video presents a selection from the Thumri Rang music festival which was organized by the Sangeet Natak Akademi in Kolkata in 2008. The performers are two well-known thumri singers Shubhra Guha and Sucharita Gupta. Subhra Guha is known for her powerful voice and is a leading khayal and thumri singer. She is particularly recognized for her excellent rendition of the Poorab Ang thumri. She is acknowledged as a representative of the Agra gharana. In this recording, she performs the thumri with the bols "Tarpe bin Balam" in Addha Tal. The song is composed in the viraha rasa. Sucharita Gupta is a recognized thumri and dadra singer. Her training under Savita Devi of the Banaras gharana is highlighted in her rendition of dadra, "Chit Ley Gayo Saanuaria." She is accompanied by Sunjakta Biswas on vocals, Roshan Ali on the sarangi and Anand Gopal Bandopadhyay on the tabla.
