The video is a presentation from the archives of the Sangeet Natak Akademi. The audio recording is a Hindustani classical vocal performance by Narayanrao G. Vyas. The recording is of a live concert held during the National Music Festival in 1956. In the video, the singer performs a khayal with the bol "Balma Bahar Ayee" in Raga Gaud Malhar set to teen tal. He is accompanied by Samta Prasad on the tabla and Ram Narain on the sarangi. Narayanrao G. Vyas (1902-1984) was one of the leading exponents of the Paluskar tradition within the Gwalior gharana. He was the disciple of Pandit Vishnu Digambar Paluskar. He was known for his high-pitched voice and effortless rendition of musical compositions. His khayal and bhajan performances were well-received by listeners. He was a very popular artist of his time and is said to have recorded more than a hundred 78 RPM discs. He was honored with the Sangeet Natak Akademi award in 1976.
