The video is a documentation of the life and achievements of the legendary vocalist Semmangudi Radhakrishna Srinivasa Iyer. It also includes interview snippets of the great performer. Semmangudi Radhakrishna Srinivasa Iyer (1908-2003) was a legendary vocalist of the Carnatic music tradition. He is considered to be a classicist of the highest order in the mold of the grand old style. He was born in Tirukkodikaval in the Tanjore district. He was exposed to music at an early age as he lived with his uncle who was a violinist till the age of four. He moved back to his parents' house in Semmangudi, Tamil Nadu and after his upanayanam ceremony was performed, he started receiving formal music education from his cousin Semmagundi Narayanaswamy Iyer. He is known for his commitment to the Carnatic music heritage and his singing style characterized by meticulous rendition of ragas and krithis and improvisation.
