Cave type
This cave is two-storeyed, and the lower storey has a porch, hall, 16 cells and a shrine. The 16 pillars are arranged in 4 rows. The front and back aisles are wider than the side aisles.
Period
It was made during the later phase. This cave was the first to be excavated out of the two.
Elements
The antechamber still retains the paintings Māravijaya and Mahāpratihārya.
Shrine
Spink suggests that adjustments were made to fit a shrine into this cave. Buddha sits in padmāsana with his hands in the Abhayamudrā. There are remnants of the paintings inside the cave. The seat is decorated with lions and the deer flanking the Dharmachakra.
