General Description
The dimensions for the Later Vihāra is 51 feet 6 inches by 52 feet 6inches. It has a porch, porch-end cells, pillared hall, cells and a shrine. The porch cell pillars have sculpted Yakṣas, Nāgas and the Yakṣini Hārītī. The cells at the back wall are pillared. Only the painting of Mahāsamāja has survived.
Shrine
The Buddha sits in padmāsana with his hands in the Dharmachakrapravartana mudrā, where the thumb and index fingers of both hands form a circle each. The standing Bodhisatvas appear behind the throne and are holding chāmara or fly-whisks.
