On the right aisle of Cave 17 we see this painting which is based on a story that is common to some religious faiths in the sub-continent. One of the early caves also has a rendition of the same story.
A king hunting in the forest mistakenly shoots an arrow at a young boy named Śyāma. The boy was living in the forest to take care of his elderly parents who had become ascetics. He asks the king to take his body to his parents. The elderly couple are grief stricken to see their dead son. They swear an oath on their son's virtues and the boy is brought back to life by Indra.
