Description :

Based on an episode from Buddha's life, this painting adorns the left aisle in Cave 16. Lower sections of the painting have been damaged, a portion of it is available at Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.


Story:

Buddha's half-brother Nanda chooses to spend time with his wife Sundarī instead of paying respects to the Buddha. He is eventually ordained into monkhood and made to realise the value of pursuing meditation.
