Material culture in Art of Ajanta

The paintings in the caves are a window into life in ancient times. They give us an insight into the material culture, lifestyle, and architecture of the time. M K Dhavalikar’s thesis on the material culture based on art of ajanta as well as Dieter Schlingloff’s research identifying various elements in the paintings have been useful in compiling a list of objects, clothing and other such elements.

Recognizing the ongoing need to position itself for the digital future, Indian Culture is an initiative by the Ministry of Culture. A platform that hosts data of cultural relevance from various repositories and institutions all over India.
